Member Bio

Born in Scotland, currently living in Glasgow. I've had a interest in RPGs since playing Golden Axe Warrior on the old Sega Master System. This interest became a full blown love affair after Secret of Mana and Link to the Past. Mostly an Xbox gamer but recently purchased a Switch. Looking forward to all the new games coming to both my systems but also the ports from Vita, Gameboy, DS, Wii and WiiU. We'll have a LOT of games to play, so let's all enjoy them!

Gotta love the crazy metal song that gives the story intro, even if the game doesn't excite me that much!
I suppose I need to see more of it before judging too harshly, it seems to be similar to "One Fingered Death Punch" but I could be wrong. "OFDP" was a title that, for me, got very annoying, very quickly. Different strokes for different folks, I suppose...

Always nice to see an RPG that doesn't follow the usual trope of humans, elves, dwarfs dragons etc, so that wins it a point in my book. Seems to have gameplay similar to Banner Saga, at least from what I've seen, hopefully this story is written as well as that one. Lovely aesthetic too...

There are a few too many pixel art games dropping just now, it's seems to be a quick way to bring nostalgia to your product. This games however actually looks great and the art style fits well. Looking forward to it!

Recently got introduced to the Ys series when Origins dropped for Xbox. Really excited to pick up this one for my Switch, only fear is that the PC port is supposedly flawed. Hopefully the Switch version is in better shape when it arrives.

Like the look of this but, with a few building games releasing, I wonder how it will stack up. I think I'd grab Portal Knights or Dragon Quest Builders before this. I'd do what everyone else has already said and wait till reviews drop before handing over your precious pennies.

Have this preordered already. The idea of possessing enemies and raising different types of fighters is a cool variation on the usual beat-em up formula. Looking forward to trying it out.

Have no knowledge of this game whatsoever. Need to do some research and find out if it's any good.

Looks a little too "RPG maker" for my liking but I'll wait for reviews before judging too harshly. If all the elements are well fleshed out, and the price isn't ridiculous, then it might be worth a look...

Meant to pick this up on XBox when it dropped there but might wait to see how this version measures up. Have a feeling I'll be able to get it cheaper on XBox, which is annoying. Probably going to be a case of Switch Tax strikes again.

Definitely like the looks of this one! Combat looks interesting and varied enough. Hopefully the kingdom building part is well fleshed out too. Probably pick this up when it drops!

Yeah, I'll buy this...
Mostly because it looks like a happy version of "Don't Starve", if the price is reasonable then it's maybe even a day one purchase!

I bought this on XBox and thoroughly enjoyed it. There isn't much hand holding, it isn't even obvious which way to go first but things become clearer as you explore. Interesting combat mechanics can lead to fast and furious battles and the bosses can be very good fights. Certainly worth getting if you haven't played it. Co-op is also available and well worth trying...

Haven't played a side-scrolling beat-em up in a while and those RPG elements have me interested in this one. Hearing good things about the previous DS version, another to watch. My wallet can't take all this punishment!

Looks like an interesting Metroidvania style game. Visually it seems like sort of a Nerd fantasy on overdrive, like Napoleon Dynamite on a bad acid trip, the style looks interesting and the humour seems to fit. Hopefully the joke doesn't wear thin too quickly though, as I can see it becoming annoying especially if the gameplay isn't a constant "Wow!".
Usual drill here, I think. Keep my eye on it, watch some gameplay and reviews, then make a decision...
Ps The song that plays during the announcement trailer fits SO well!

Okay, definitely looking good! Only worry is the combat, hard to see how it feels and plays from a video. It looked okay so far but I've been fooled before. Another in a long line of upcoming titles that are interesting and releasing on Switch. Hopefully some gems coming soon!

This looks truly great! The screenshots are very reminiscent of that era of 2d gaming that they're aiming for and look gorgeous. Can't wait to find out more about this one. Only gripe? It isn't slated for release until late 2019! So far away...but we have loads to play till then anyway!

Haven't played any of the others in the series, only heard of them in passing but this looks very interesting. It has a combat system that I've never really played before. Yet another one to keep an eye on!

Supposedly this a video game version of a Pen and Paper RPG but I've never heard of it before. Having Cthulhu in the title caught my attention though, a turnbased game with demons could be a lot of fun. Really interested to find out more!

Interesting...Nice artstyle. Seems like standard JRPG combat but hopefully has some replayability, what with those "Roguelike elements" that suddenly cropped up everywhere. Need to see more but world size, story length and price are always a factor before pulling the"buy" trigger

Shining Resonance Refrain

I played the demo for this but it was far too short to really get a handle on a big RPG like this. The combat felt solid enough though and I was left wondering what would happen storywise so I suppose the demo did its job. Review seems to back up my suspicions of a fairly decent RPG, might get it later on but have others I'd probably pick up first.

Been recommended to check this out by a friend who LOVES the PS version but, like you, my only knowledge of this series is Ys Origins which I picked up when it dropped on Xbox recently. This looks like a majorly different game, certainly interested in checking it out, as long as the Switch Tax isn't to ridiculous...😀👍

I didn't think this would be able to hold its own against the likes of Portal Knight or Dragon Quest Builders. They're better established and do everything better. Picking one of those up will probably serve you better. Shame, because the kind of world building games can be fun but the market has competition, they needed to add something unique...

Mobile ports always worry me but this doesn't seem anywhere as bad as I'd feared. Seems simple but that is reflected in the relatively small price. I'd probably go for something more complex but I suppose it would do as a distraction, for a little while anyway. Just not my cup of tea unfortunately...

Sounds interesting but I tend to play in docked mode, this sounds like the touch screen provides a big advantage over using the buttons. Might keep it on the back burner but it doesn't really excite me. A demo for it would be useful, just to see if I can get into it. As it stands though, there is a lot of games I'd take the chance on first.

The demo of this left me feeling "meh" about the game but I still hoped that the full release would be better. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Think I'll hold off on picking it up and grab it when, or if, It goes on sale. Shame because I usually like these types of games but they need to do something different to keep my attention...
