Wow, what a ride it has been these past two years! SwitchRPG.com has been through a lot since its inception in early 2018. While today marks the anniversary of our written content – with our Lost Sphear review serving as the inaugural article – the site actually began as a Switch RPG game database prior to that.
Though the database functionality would later be dropped in favor of a separate project, Switchlist, SwitchRPG.com would continue to provide in-depth, trustworthy coverage of all things Switch RPG through 2018 and into 2019. However, late in 2019 we would receive the news that our founder, Firestream, would have to step down from an active role. While Switchlist was ultimately lost, there is a project in the works that aims to be its spiritual successor; Switch Vault. Check our Discord to learn more about this project. Despite all of the setbacks, SwitchRPG.com has continued to grow from one man’s passion project, to a full-fledged Switch RPG-focused hub, currently maintained by 10 staff members and several contributors.
In 2019, SwitchRPG.com was visited by over 200,000 people, accumulating almost 500,000 pageviews. An additional 600+ articles were written (smashing the 1,000 total milestone), the YouTube channel grew from a few hundred subscribers to over 3,000, and our social media outlets – whether Discord, Twitter, or Facebook – have continued to flourish. Given our current trajectory, 2020 will be the best year yet.
With that in mind, I’d like to stress how appreciative we are of our community. You all are the driving force behind what we do, and we cannot thank you enough for sticking with us – especially through the trials and tribulations. By the same token, I’d also like to thank all of the staff – newcomers, veterans, and those long gone (but not forgotten) – for everything you do (or have done) that ultimately makes SwitchRPG.com the premier destination for all things RPG on Switch.
Here’s to 2020!
