SwitchRPG Turns Three!
We’ve made it to year three, and what a journey it has been! SwitchRPG has gone through a lot of changes since its debut in early 2018. While today marks the anniversary of our written content, the site actually began a few weeks prior as solely a Switch RPG game database.

In the beginning, users could track games they had purchased as well as those they wanted to pick up in the future. They could also leave comments on games for others to read – this, in fact, was how I was introduced to the founder of the site, Firestream. While the initial functionality of SwitchRPG was well received, it was clear that changes were necessary in order for both the database side and gaming coverage to flourish. Game tracking and lists would expand to cover all games – not just RPGs – as Switchlist, while RPG coverage would grow under the original SwitchRPG brand.
Firestream would pass off the day-to-day operations and website maintenance to myself in late 2018 in order to focus exclusively on Switchlist. By the end of 2019, however, Firestream would have to leave the community for good, and so too would Switchlist experience its final days. Despite all the setbacks, SwitchRPG would continue strong, publishing over 600 pieces of content in 2019.

2020 would prove to be a challenging year for everyone. Video games have certainly allowed for us to continue to bond over distances (and distancing) and have certainly kept many of us sane in these trying times. In spite of everything – global happenings and our own personnel changes – SwitchRPG.com would again create over 600 pieces of content in 2020, bringing our site content total to over 1,600. Our YouTube channel doubled in size from 3,000 subscribers to over 6,000, and our Discord and Twitter, and Facebook communities have continued to thrive.

Finally, I’d like to thank each and everyone of you for making this whole thing possible. Never did I imagine that this project would grow as much as it has, and it is all thanks to our community and wonderful staff (both active and retired). Thank you, readers, for trusting us enough to make SwitchRPG the premier destination for all things RPG on Switch.
Here’s to 2021!
