Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King Review via Switch Player

Blossom Tales takes much of it's rule book straight from A Link to the Past and manages to adapt relatively well. Whilst the game lacks some of the polish and charm of it's inspiration, it doesn't stop the game from being good in it's own right.

Review: Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King (Switch eShop) via Nintendo Life

Judging a game on its own merits is very important. However, when a title happens to borrow just about every aspect of its design from an iconic game series, it's hard not to acknowledge. Claims could be made that a game like this is nothing more than a shameless clone, but thankfully in the case of Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King, the developer has intentionally crafted it with a sense of love and admiration of classic Zelda games. While it's not as flawlessly executed as the series it draws inspiration from and it doesn't add anything particularly groundbreaking, it's still a heartfelt tribute to the earlier entries in Nintendo's long-running series.

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King: Official GBAtemp Review via GBAtemp

Blossom Tales is a really fun little adventure. Fairly strong presentation, and very fun gameplay that any fan of 2D Zelda games can easily get right into. Despite the similarities to Zelda, I don't feel it lives in its shadow, but instead took the core of what a 2D Zelda game is, and managed to make it its own. I'm genuinely impressed, and happy this game turned out to be so fun.

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King Switch Review via Play Some Video Games

Straight to the point, I have two vital things I need to start off with this review: 1.) As I’m typing this, I want to play even more of this game. 2.) If you love The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past, you should have bought this game yesterday.

Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King (Switch) Review via NintendoWorldReport

Blossom Tales successfully accomplishes it's goal of recreating the tried and true simplistic gameplay found in the classic action/adventure genre, but also adds a bit of its own personality as well. By adapting new mechanics for a more fluid experience and combining that with the charming story-telling narrative, Castle Pixel has created an elegant love letter to one of Nintendo's most cherished and beloved titles. So if you yearn for a polished Zelda experience, look no further - Blossom Tales: The Sleeping King is a beautiful homage.

This looks like a fun homage to Zelda. I’ll pick it up eventually and I’m sure that I’ll love it.

I enjoyed the game even though your character is way to OP at the end. I would have liked after beating the game if you could reset a dungeon after walking into it to try new items out or a challenge mode where you have to beat boss x with certain items with X health. I really don't see myself replaying this game again just to try different items out. I'm glad this game sold well enough on the Switch for Castle Pixel to keep making games. I look forward to seeing what they will do next. If you like old school Zelda games, pick this up!! I beat Blossom Tales in 7 hrs 15 mins and would give it a 7.5/10.

This was an impulse buy for me, and after playing it for a little bit I had some pretty bad buyer's remorse. However, I picked it up again and played it and handheld mode and absolutely loved it. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I find this game so much more enjoyable in handheld than docked.
The humor in this game isn't as good as Golf Story's, but it has some cute moments.

Super charming and an absolute delight to play. One of my favorites on the eShop right now. If you haven't taken the plunge yet, do it.

Having played up to halfway through the final dungeon, I can say that this game is definitely worthy of its praise. It leans very heavily on the 2D Zelda formula. While it doesn't really bring anything new to the table, the presentation is charming enough to certainly merit a playthrough. Well worth the asking price for sure.

Yeah its a great game. Solid gameplay, great music and setting. Very challenging as well, so when you pass a major section of the game you feel very accomplished. If you enjoy older 2D Zelda games this one is great fan service.
