Weekend Gaming Playlist
For the majority of us, another weekend of isolation quickly approaches. While this comes with a bunch of disadvantages, we can look on the brighter side of things – think of all the potential time you could spend gaming this weekend! At least that’s what I’m doing, and here is what I plan on checking out:
Sunless Sea: Zubmariner Edition

Having started Sunless Sea a week ago, I’m now just beginning to feel like I’m understanding it. Not only are there a lot of game mechanics you need to understand, the game’s user interface also takes a small degree of patience to get accustomed to. It’s all very daunting from the start, and I can’t quite see the average person making it very far as a result. It’s simply not very friendly to new players, but maybe that’s what I like most about it. Sunless Sea offers a bit of a challenge, a well-built story, and an epically crafted world.
With all this time on my hands, I’ve quickly found myself completing game after game, including Deep Sky Derelicts and Boothill Bounties. I’m trying my hardest to put Sunless Sea next on that completion list. I’ve become pretty accustomed to playing a bit of Sunless Sea on the side of a movie or TV show binge session. It’s perfect for that sort of play, as it doesn’t require 24/7 attention while you sail across the “zee.”
Book of Demons

I’ve picked up Book of Demons for review, but have yet to get started with all the “zee” sailing and cowboy roping that’s been going on recently. Book of Demons had me from the moment it used “Paperverse” to name its pop-up book-like world, but then it had to go and add cards, deckbuilding, and a challenging endgame on top of it. Consider me completely sold on Book of Demons, and I can’t wait to really sink some time into it over the weekend. And no, I’m not playing any Animal Crossing this weekend – please take your pitchforks and torches elsewhere.
Are any of you playing any of these games this weekend, or are you planning to go with something different? Be sure to follow both myself and SwitchRPG on Twitter for media posts throughout the weekend!
