Weekend Gaming Playlist
As we all look to a future of continued isolation, and extended time for gaming, let’s take some time to talk about what we’ll be playing this weekend. For some, like myself, this means enjoying a healthy mix of new and old titles, riding the current bandwagon of Animal Crossing, and enjoying some fantastic, older RPGs along the way.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Like many, I’m enjoying my daily forays into my quiet little village – tending my flowers, digging for fossils, and slowly building my museum’s collection of bugs and fish. The momentum has only just started to slow down for me, with my hour-long play sessions tapering off to a more controllable 20-30 minutes. With a series of holiday events on the horizon, and a core “campaign” still to be completed, I don’t see myself losing interest in this marvelous, peaceful little title anytime soon.
Bravely Second: End Layer

When I first played Bravely Default, I completed the game in fits and starts, spread across about 2 years of picking the game up, playing it furiously, and then dropping it after about 20-30 hours of gameplay. This pattern seems to be repeating itself with the sequel, Bravely Second: End Layer. I first started the game last year, put about 20 hours into it, and then walked away for greener pastures. But, with Bravely Default II coming to Switch later this year, my appetite for a Bravely game could not be contained, and I’ve found myself back into Bravely Second and loving every minute of it.
Pokemon Silver

My journey through the entire Pokemon series continues, as I finally put Pokemon Yellow to bed and have officially moved into Generation II! The improvements of the second generation are immediately apparent, as the game is smoother, cleaner, and all-around more user-friendly than before. I’m excited to be jumping back into the Johto region for the first time since playing SoulSilver many years ago, and embarking on yet another, in what will be a long line of, Pokemon adventures.
That’s everything I’ve got lined up for the weekend. Let us know what you’ll be playing in the comments below.
