Weekend Gaming Playlist

The weekend is upon us once again, and I couldn’t be happier to greet it. For me, this week has been all about work, dodging torrential downpours, and avoiding the plague that is streptococcal pharyngitis (or strep). Now that we’ve made it to the end, I hope that I’ve evaded everything successfully so that I can hone in on some game time this weekend. Here’s what is on the docket:

Rune Factory 4 Special

I was fortunate enough to receive a review copy a couple weeks in advance for this one, and I’m glad I did. As a newcomer to the series, I can now see why people spend hundreds, if not thousands, of hours on these titles. It is an entertaining blend of farming, crafting, simulation, and action RPG that features an interesting, expansive cast of characters despite the somewhat forgettable main narrative. In short, I love this game, and plan to provide a full review once I’ve at least reached the post-game – whenever that happens.

Downtown Special Kunio-kun’s Historical Period Drama!

What a mouthful of a title, right? As part of the Double Dragon / Kunio-kun retro brawler bundle, this game has been on my radar for many years now. It is one of many Kunio-kun titles that never saw a worldwide release – until now – and is considered a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time; River City Ransom. Will it feature the same amount of RPG elements I know and love from the first game? Maybe, maybe not, but I intend to find out either way. Check back in a few days and we might have a video preview available for this title.

Final Fantasy VII: Trinity Challenge

As part of an ongoing Let’s Play series on our YouTube channel, I continue to get joy out of this 23 year old title by way of a challenge run of my creation – The Trinity Challenge. This run is not as hardcore as many that are already out there on the interwebz, but it does offer a substantial increase in difficulty when compared to a traditional run. Challenge rules and footage of my adventures can be found here.

That’s it for me! What are you going to play? Have a great weekend!
