Weekend Gaming Playlist (8-5-22)
Happy Friday! For me, this weekend will be extended through Tuesday thanks(?) to major oral surgery. I might not be “completely there” the entire time, but I’m certainly planning to take advantage of the situation with some more gaming (and a lot of ice cream)! And how convenient will it be considering one particular juggernaut of a title I’ll be playing…
Xenoblade Chronicles 3

The latest from Monolith Soft is here, and boy, is it shaping up to be something special. While I’m only about 15 hours in at this point – a drop in the bucket of overall playtime, I’m sure – I’m already enjoying the more mature theme, characters, and combat in comparison to Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Although I’m not the biggest fan of certain baddies constant taunting and overselling of reactions – feels like I’m watching Power Rangers back in the ‘90s, to be honest – the overwhelming majority of content otherwise has been a joy to experience.
Don’t expect a review from us anytime soon; we play our games to completion, after all. But maybe check back in a few weeks for Evan’s take on this epic-length JRPG.
Chrono Trigger

Yep, I’m still plugging away on my revisit of this classic JRPG. While I’m over 30 episodes deep into my Let’s Play, I still have a ways to go before I can file it back on the shelf. Switch release when?
Final Fantasy VII: Trinity Challenge

Although it’s not my favorite Final Fantasy game, I enjoy playing through the original Final Fantasy VII at least once a year. And this time, I’ll be playing with a ruleset of my own creation: the Trinity Challenge. If you want to know more about this challenge – I use “challenge” loosely, however, especially considering how painful many other ones are – check out this link and maybe try it out on your own!
That’s it for me this weekend! What are YOU going to play?
