Weekend Gaming Playlist (8-19-22)

I’ve reached a limbo with a few of the games that I’m playing where I’m pretty deep into all of them, but nowhere close to finishing out any single one at the moment. But thankfully, I’ve gotten over the hump of heavily anticipated games (at least, until fall hits), so I’m just cruising through my rotation of games for the time being.

Digimon Survive

I’ve sunk quite a bit of time into Digimon Survive and am still enjoying my time with the game so far. This title has been a bit controversial, given the fact that it’s more of a visual novel than a tactics game. And while I knew this going in, it felt more like the tactics portions could be completely removed and nothing would quite change with the game. Adding to the fact that the tactics portions feel middle-of-the-road, and it does make for a sad tactics experience. But the story has been interesting so far!

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Ever since this title was announced, I told myself I would finally finish Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and maybe look into Xenoblade Chronicles 2 afterwards. And lo and behold, I completed neither and have instead started my journey into 3. The combat is much like I remember from 1, but with some improvements and changes that I quite like. Although, I’m still stuck in the never-ending pit of tutorials, so I hope to have a more solid opinion of the game as I slowly chug through it.

Cult of the Lamb

This has been my most anticipated indie ever since it was announced earlier this year. Cute, bright art style while the story has to deal with the darkest of plot points. Sacrificing, cults, rituals, and death are shown in abundance and this is definitely not a game you want to play around your family if they’re religious. One part roguelike and one part cult management sim, it’s addicting to go through crusades to recruit more cult followers while cutting down your enemies in the process. What’s not as addicting is the fact that you’re going to be the de-facto poop cleaner until you have enough devotion to build an outhouse.

That’s it for me this weekend! What are YOU going to play?
