Weekend Gaming Playlist
Ah, the joyous holiday season: a time for consuming obscene amounts of food, watching movies you’ve seen dozens of times over (Christmas Vacation is still great), and spending time with the ones you love…or tolerate, at least. Joyous, indeed.
What else does it mean? Some will be traveling, while others might be keeping close to home in hopes of avoiding the traffic, crowds, and unpredictable weather. Any way you slice it, the Switch is there to fulfill your gaming needs – be it on the road, or curling up on the couch. This weekend, I’ll be playing:
Star Ocean: First Departure R

If you follow me on Twitter, I must apologize (and also not apologize) for the amount of gushing I’ve done about Star Ocean: First Departure R. My first Star Ocean game ever, I’m insanely impressed by the presentation in this HD remastered edition of the game, which originated from the Super Famicom era. The story is interesting, the characters are likable, the combat is simple – yet enjoyable – and the aesthetics are a retro RPG fan’s dream come true. While I do take issue with a few of its systems – particularly the skill and crafting systems – it has been a pleasant ride so far, and I look forward to providing further insight of my exploits in the near future.
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion

Pirates of the Enchiridion is one of the oldest games on my backlog, but I managed to pick it up at a steal during the holiday sales. I literally know nothing about the Adventure Time series, so I’ll be walking into this one completely blind. It has garnered mixed reviews at best, so I’m curious where I’ll stand once I’ve completed my journey – if I make it that far.
The Alliance Alive HD Remastered

After my somewhat disappointing outing with SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions, I’m really looking forward to diving back into this gem. I set this one down several weeks ago, only because there were so many other games that required my attention at the time. However, now that the dust has (somewhat) settled I’ll be getting back into this title that many hold in high regard.
That’s it for me! What will YOU be playing this weekend?
Ashen, DQ XI S & Pikuniku for me
