Weekend Gaming Playlist (6-24-22)

The summer RPG releases are starting to ramp up and I’m truly not ready for the onslaught that is about to occur. To try and offset that, I’ve finally decided to tackle some of my backlog to play through some of the short titles that I’ve accumulated over the last year or so.

The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story

FMVs are not a common medium explored in video games, and that’s something that I’m really sad about. The short amount of time that I’ve spent playing through The Centennial Case: A Shijima Story has been very fun so far. I love my mystery games and find myself right at home trying to piece together several of the mysteries that this game has thrown at me. I can only hope that the mysteries keep delivering.

VA-11 HALL-A

I knew absolutely nothing about this game going in (or, at least, had forgotten the premise after purchasing the game during a sale), so seeing that it’s actually a bartending visual novel caught me off guard. But thankfully, the gameplay is very chill, with the lack of timer and endless resets for when you mess up a drink. Getting to see the variety of individuals who stumble into the bar, each looking for a different type of place to relax has been exciting.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge

Growing up, I was a pretty big fan of the TMNT cartoon that appeared on 4Kids/Cartoon Network. And while I haven’t kept close tabs with the series since it was bought out by Nickelodeon, I would still say I’m a casual fan of the series. So, of course, hearing about a new game being made about everyone’s favorite ninjas got me excited. And while I’m currently stumbling my way through the game due to not being great at beat-em-ups, I am enjoying myself immensely.

ENDER LILIES: Quietus of the Knights

Metroidvanias have never really been my thing. The thought of backtracking and finding the correct path to go at the right time has always made me turn up my nose in frustration. And while some of that frustration still holds for ENDER LILIES, the art is really beautiful and I find myself drawn in to the White Priestess and her supply of spirits willing to help her accomplish her goal.

That’s it for me this weekend! What are you going to play? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Twitter. Enjoy your time playing, stay safe, and be well!
