I’ve spent the past few weeks completely buried, as my team at work has been trying to wrap up a huge project. But now that our work is complete, it’s finally time for me to truly reconnect with my Switch and enjoy a relaxing weekend with plenty of gaming. Let’s see what’s on the plate for this weekend!
I’ve been picking away at this curious little top-down adventure over the last couple of weeks, never quite able to get a groove going. I’m still having trouble really defining what I like and don’t like about this title. It has a lot of interesting ideas, but I’m still unsure if the execution is going to pay off. I’m hoping to put a good chunk of time into it this weekend to find out.
Final Fantasy VII
I knew with Final Fantasy VII coming to the Switch, I wouldn’t be able to resist its siren’s call for long. It’s been several years since I last sat down to play the series’ first foray into 3D gaming, and like most of my runs through FF7 over the years, this one ended just shy of the final dungeon. For whatever reason, I get bored with that final period of grinding and end up moving on to another game (usually Final Fantasy Tactics). Will this be the time I finally finish the game properly on my own save file? We’ll have to wait and see.
I’ve always been a big fan of Tetris, going all the way to playing 1v1 battles against my brothers via Game Boy link cable. If Tetris 99 had a target audience, I am it. I’ve been continuing to play random matches on this game whenever I found the time, and I’ve even managed to get 1st place a handful of times. I’m hoping to synch at least one more win over this weekend while I try out some new strategies.
That’s all I’ve got this week – a nice mix of classic and modern gameplay. What’s on the docket for everyone else? Let us know in the comments!
