Weekend Gaming Playlist (2-25-22)
Another work week in the rearview mirror, another playlist to compile! As the local weather randomly goes from heavy downpours to sunshine, and highs in the 70s to highs in the 40s all weekend long, I plan to make the most of the crazy weather by instead focusing on some games! Here’s what I’ll be playing:
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream Review
If you had a chance to check out my review (in progress) of this game from yesterday, then you’ll already know that I’m well on my way to rolling the credits. But still have a ways to go yet! Sophie 2 was one of my most anticipated releases this year, and so far it has done very little to disappoint. Stay tuned for some minor updates to my review in progress once I finally drop the curtains on this adventure.
Final Fantasy V Pixel Remaster
I’ve been casually playing through the fifth entry in the Final Fantasy series for a couple weeks now. While I have picked up and played every single Pixel Remaster thus far, I originally was planning to skip this one since I had just recently beaten the original a year or so ago. It’s one of my favorites in the franchise, actually, but I just wanted a bit more time before I played it again. But I picked it up anyway to tide me over until the release of Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster which, at the time of this purchase, was still only slated for “sometime in February.” I was actually concerned that it may be pushed back yet again, so I went ahead and picked V up. And what do you know, the very next day, FFVI had a definitive release date!
Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster
Contrary to popular opinion, Final Fantasy VI isn’t my personal favorite in the series. The graphics are great, and the characters and storytelling are excellent, but I’m not a fan whatsoever of the esper system and how it is so ingrained in overall character stat progression. Regardless, it has been many, many moons since I have actually beaten this game, so it’s actually my most anticipated Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster of the bunch. I’m looking forward to putting some serious time into this one over the weekend.
