Weekend Gaming Playlist (2-24-23)

2023 has been pretty hectic for me so far. A mixture of real life commitments with me getting a schedule down to tackle my Switch/Steam backlogs has me in a perpetual state of spinning. But things seem to be calming down, and that’s definitely a good thing with the game year really starting to kick in. A lot of great games have already been released, and even more are coming out soon. But in the meantime, I continue onward in my quest to clear more games.

Chaos; Child

I’ve technically finished the main ending for this game, but I’m trying to clear through the other four endings just so that I can say I’ve fully finished this meaty visual novel. While I’m still unsure on my feelings on the general story compared to the first game, I can definitely say that I enjoyed the cast a lot more. Eventually I’ll explore the other titles in the Science Adventure series, especially if they promise to be even half as entertaining.

Harvestella

I’ve heard mixed things about Harvestella from the moment it first came out. Whether it was about the farming not being as in-depth as people wanted, or the story not capturing them, this game seemed to bring out a lot of different views from players. I didn’t expect to get to play it this soon, but was given the opportunity to actually try it out and I’m very excited to see how it actually turns out. I did try out the demo last year and while simplistic early on, it did enough to at least keep my interest. So I’m very curious to see how the story continues.

Devil May Cry 5

After completing Hi-Fi Rush, I’ve been craving another action game to get my button-mashing fingers the exercise they crave. And since I heard that I don’t technically need to have played the other DmC titles before 5 (I have a rough understanding of the series in general), I decided to take the plunge. I’m still early in the game, but I’m already fully invested watching Nero, V, and Nico banter amongst themselves. But also, this is to keep me from being bad and purchasing Like a Dragon Ishin!, since that just came out.

Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe

I love Kirby and with (almost) every new Kirby announcement, I grow stronger. I never had the chance to play any of the Kirby Wii games, so this will be my first time playing this game. While I don’t know what to really expect with this particular game(outside of the gimmick for this title being the huge screen clears), I do know that with it being a Kirby game, I’m going to at least have a great time perusing through the levels with my different copy abilities. And I’m especially excited to play through Magolor’s story.

That’s it for me this weekend! What are you going to play? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Twitter.
