Weekend Gaming Playlist (2-11-22)

Hope everyone enjoyed the Nintendo Direct this week – it was packed with RPG goodness. We got announcements for a new Fire Emblem Warriors game, Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings released on the SNES and NES respectively, Chrono Cross remaster in April, HD-2D remaster of Live A Live in the summer, Front Mission 1 and 2 remaster also in summer (Front Mission 2 is at a later date), and finally Xenoblade Chronicles 3 in September. What did you think? I am personally excited to check out Live a Live and Front Mission – it’s great to see Square Enix and Nintendo working together. Here is how I plan on spending my gaming time this weekend, but be sure to enjoy the Super Bowl if you plan on watching it.

Pokémon™ Legends: Arceus

This is the Pokemon game I’ve actually wanted. Having recently finished Pokemon Sword, I felt exhausted with the series and was going to take a break before playing Brilliant Diamond. After playing ~30 hours, however, I feel Pokémon Legends: Arceus takes the best of the mainline series and blends it with attributes from Breath of the Wild and Monster Hunter. So far, it has been a fantastic experience I didn’t see coming.

Ocean’s Heart

I really like top-down action RPGs, especially ones that play and are inspired by the Zelda series. Ocean’s Heart fits that bill but seems like a pirate-themed one based on my four hours of playtime so far. The story, so far, is interesting and the quest / side quest tracking system is very user friendly. I do find the game to be rather simple and the dungeons so far lacking in puzzles and challenge, but hopefully that will change later down the road. Check back soon for my full review of Ocean’s Heart!

BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL!

I enjoy playing puzzle games, especially the Picross ones. Boxboy is a different type of puzzle game – more of a puzzle platformer with optional objectives. Those objectives being to complete a level using a limited number of boxes and collecting the crowns. I completed one of the game’s three story campaigns and am currently about half way through the second.

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch

I am still slowly working through this game. Anytime I clear up some games on my plate and plan to go back to it, something else gets in the way. Hopefully, eventually, I will finish it!

That’s it for me this weekend! What are you going to play? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Twitter. Enjoy your time playing, stay safe, and be well!
