Here we are, once again, on the cusp of the glorious weekend, and along with it come hopes and dreams for some quality gaming time! We’ve made it this far through another work week, so I think a gaming session or two in the near future is most definitely in order. Here’s what I plan to get into over the weekend, but be sure to share your gaming aspirations as well!
SaGa Frontier is quite the odd duck, and not necessarily a game that I’d recommend to every RPG fan. It can feel half-finished at times, but there are things about it that have always compelled me to revisit it time and time again. It is the topic of my next Obscure RPG article, so be on the lookout for that in the coming weeks.
The Metroidvania genre has exploded over the past few years, and there are lots of incredible examples of it on almost every platform. But what most of these games have lacked is the depth of RPG elements that were found in titles such as Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That is exactly why I’ve been following the successfully kickstarted project known as Chasm for so long. While it has received some fairly significant criticism upon release, I fully intend to give it a fair shot considering it theoretically checks all of my Metroidvania boxes.
Like Chasm, I’m somewhat skeptical about the Switch version of Titan Quest due to the mediocre reaction to it thus far. But Chasm is $20 while Titan Quest is $40, so I’m a little more gun shy because of the price tag. But man, I so badly want a loot grinder on the Switch that I’m almost willing to overlook any problems associated with the port. We’ll see if I end up pulling the trigger this weekend!
That’s it for me. What are your plans this weekend?
