Weekend Gaming Playlist
Elias here! It’s my first post since the site has been back up and running with the full staff, and I’m very excited to be here — so excited I thought I already wrote this post, but here I am at 10:25AM on the day of putting the finishing touches in, and I am still so happy to be writing again for everyone. Welcome back SwitchRPG! What’s on my weekend docket? A lot, actually. A whole heck of a lot.

Shin Megami Tensei V
Being addicted to exploring in a game is not a foreign concept to me. Xenoblade Chronicles and its sequels are likely the last games that I felt so inclined to uncover every corner of the map in, but Shin Megami Tensei V takes that feeling to the next level. From hunting down Miman to slashing open every treasure chest, I aim to leave no stone unturned in my journey. Aside from my almost obsessive collective aims, finding and fusing demons, making my Neko Shogun into a truck, and building my protagonist into an all-out genuine weapon have been my main focus so far. While the narrative is engaging and has hooked its demonic tendrils deep inside my heart, I’m taking this one slow and savoring every moment of the adventure.

Monster Crown
1.0.3 dropped recently, and with it a plethora of fixes and improvements. Those who may have read my original review over on Nintendo Everything may have stayed clear of this release — such a mighty price tag for what was, at launch, a buggy mess. Now, though, with two patches under its belt, Monster Crown is finally in a state that I can recommend players diving in. Since the 1.0.3 update I haven’t experienced any game-breaking bugs or crashes, and while there are still some fixes that I’d like to see, this darker take on monster taming games has a lot of promise and makes me hopeful for the future of monster games.

Pokemon Shining Pearl
Today is the day! As a Gen IV obsessed high-schooler, I loved the competitive battling scene and even ran a Ground-type Gym online back when PokemonGTS’ forum site hosted gym challenges, complete with little pixel badges given to winners. I’m excited to rebuild my old team again and see how the scene has changed. I’m also really looking forward to what folks have been reporting as an absolute banger of a soundtrack. How many of you will be joining me this weekend for another hike through the Sinnoh region? What favorites are you looking to encounter? I know I’ll be catching a Shinx as soon as humanly possible, that’s for sure!
It’s a busy weekend coming up for me, with absolutely amazing games to play, a stream of my favorite RPG of all time, Breath of Fire IV, and a week of relaxing and cleaning up my place. Let me know what your plans are in the comments below!
