Weekend Gaming Playlist
Summer may be winding down, but the Switch indies keep on coming. There have been a lot of indie releases – Trigger Witch, Axiom Verge 2, and Dodgeball Academia, to name a few – and one of my most anticipated indies of the year releases next week, Baldo: The guardian Owls. While I wait patiently for its release, I am going to check out some other indies this weekend while also continuing to work through some bigger AAA games. Here is a sampling of what I will be playing this weekend.
Arietta of Spirits

Arietta of Spirits releases today on the eShop. It’s a charming adventure that finds you (Arietta) on an island visiting your Grandmother’s cabin as part of a yearly tradition. The trip takes an interesting turn as you meet a mysterious spirit in the middle of your first night there. The game has a lot of charm and while not as deep as Blossom Tales, reminds me a lot of that game with its storytelling and emotion.
Garden Story

Garden story is an interesting game that shadow dropped a week ago as part of Nintendo’s latest Indie World presentation. I immediately picked it up as the trailer and art style appealed to me. The game has you doing tasks around several villages as you work to restore order to each. Not only are you fixing bridges and gathering materials for an NPC, you are also fighting off something known as the rot, both in the villages and deep inside the dungeons. If you are looking for a cross between Stardew Valley, Zelda, and Animal Crossing, then this one might be worth a look.
Bravely Default II

As I mentioned several weeks ago, Bravely Default II is my first “Bravely” game. I am still slowly working my way through the game’s campaign. I just finished Chapter 4, and am going to check out the new jobs I recently acquired and see if any of them are to my liking. I know one of them, Hellblade, has some passive abilities I am interested in checking out.
That’s it for me this weekend! What are you going to play? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Twitter. Enjoy your time playing, stay safe, and be well!
