Weekend Gaming Playlist

With the summer releases coming out one after another, I am currently sitting in the corner of my room, crying as I watch more and more games release. This is definitely a strong year not just for Switch RPGs, but for Switch games in general. It feels like I’m stuck rolling down an endless hill and I’m falling further and further behind – and that’s not even touching on the games releasing at the end of this month. Heck, Ys IX and Monster Hunter Stories 2 released this week!

There’s definitely a lot of excitement going on, but I’m actually toning it down a bit and focusing on a smaller amount of games for right now. Here is what’s going to be occupying my time this weekend:

Disgaea 6

Of course, I’m stuck deep in Disgaea 6 at the moment. This was my most anticipated game of the year, so the moment I had the chance to finally play it, I immediately jumped on it. I’ll be writing up my feelings about the game for the site in due time, but this entry has definitely left me at a crossroads. The quality-of-life features are amazing and honestly, a long time coming for the series. Why, I’ve never reached levels this high in any Disgaea game before; really, I’ve never reached levels this high in any game before. I feel like I’m flying high and have way too much power. But the performance and visual aspects of the game are definitely the weakest point of the series.

Nonetheless, being able to set my Switch aside as the game bullrushes through maps with auto-repeat and auto-battle on makes this a fun experience…or non-experience I suppose, since you aren’t technically experiencing anything. And don’t even get me started on Zed and Bieko – my poor little heart cries when I think of those two.

Buried Stars

This mystery adventure game has been sitting in my backlog for a hot minute now, ever since it finally went on sale a few months back. And as a big mystery adventure fan, I had to jump on this game. While I’m not too far into Buried Stars right now, it definitely has my attention right off the bat. Centered around a singing competition show in South Korea, the five finalists find themselves caught up in the middle of a building collapse and have to survive for six hours.

I’m not sure how much darker this game is going to get, but based on the synopsis, murder and shady business is afoot and I’ve got to figure out the culpit (or survive – who knows as of right now). And as an Ace Attorney fanatic, I’m more than ready to sniff out the culprit (and hopefully not stumble into any bad endings while doing so).

And those are the games that have my attention at the moment. What games are you guys playing this weekend? Let us know!
