Weekend Gaming Playlist

Friday! The weekend is upon us, and that means it’s time to play some video games. Here is what I am playing this weekend.

Crosscode

I should have started this one a while ago, but I wanted a physical copy and my steelbook edition didn’t arrive until after I was knee-deep into Immortals Fenyx Rising. Now that I have beaten Immortals and the first DLC, it’s time to jump in and finally check this game out. I have heard so many great things about this game, so I know I’m in for a treat.

Blue Fire

Blue Fire came out a couple weeks ago and I have been enjoying what I have played of it so far. If you liked Windwaker and Hollow Knight, then this game is for you as it feels like what a 3D Hollow Knight game with some Windwaker visuals and dungeon design would be. I know the developers are working on a patch because the game has some issues, but I’m having fun with it regardless.

Phoenotopia Awakening

We just wrapped up our AMA with the developers of Phoenotopia last week. If you couldn’t participate, feel free to read the Transcript here. I am about eight hours into this one and although it is visually stunning, it can be frustrating at times from both a combat and “where do I go next” perspective. I am hoping to get back into it as a bunch of our community members really enjoy and praise the game.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury

I skipped the Wii U generation, so it’s great to finally be able to play this entry. While it’s not the traditional 3D sandbox Mario format I really enjoy, Bowser’s Fury is a welcome addition and from the little bit of it I have played so far, it’s awesome. I hope this is what Nintendo is planning for the next Mario game. It feels like they took the best parts of Mario Odyssey and mashed them together with aspects of Breath of the Wild, creating a fully interconnected, open world Mario game. 3D World has been amazing to play also – I am really enjoying the hectic mayhem playing each of the levels in three or four-player co-op/versus. My only complaint about that mode is the camera can sometimes drive you crazy, but it is still a great time.

That’s it for me this weekend! What are you going to play? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Twitter. Enjoy your time playing, stay safe, and be well!
