Weekend Gaming Playlist

2020 is coming to an end, to the relief of many! This has been a trying year to say the least, but there have still been some great titles come to the Switch. This weekend, I’ll be playing two of the major fourth quarter releases and a fun little indie title!

Legends of Ethernal

This 2D platforming roguelite from Lucid Dreams features beautiful visuals that stand out from the very first in-game screen. The gameplay isn’t anything to scoff at, however. The game sports smooth controls and fun combat to go along with light puzzle elements. Please check back here at SwitchRPG soon for my full review.

Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend

One of my fondest memories on the GameBoy comes from this classic RPG title. For many in the West, this game was their very first experience with the Final Fantasy franchise without knowing it was actually a SaGa title in disguise! The game happens to be graced by one of the most brutal final bosses I’ve ever encountered in my gaming days, and I never actually beat it until a friend let me borrow his gameshark in 7th grade English.

Behind a book I had propped up for cover, I grinned with glee when the text “???? was defeated” scrolled across my GameBoy…although I cheated to accomplish it. I plan to beat him fair and square this time, though. If you’re also planning to play the SaGa Collection, I invite you to check out our pal Ben’s beginners guide to the game for some handy tips.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity

I’ve never been a big fan of Warriors/ Masuo games but I had to take the plunge on this one as the allure of more Hyrule canon was irresistible. Gameplay is repetitive, of course, which is inescapable for these types of games. The story is incredible, however. Most surprisingly for me is how fun the split screen multiplayer has been. My family always enjoys jumping in to help me demolish hordes of Hyrule’s most renowned monsters.

That’s all for me! What will you be playing? SwitchRPG hopes you all have a wonderful holiday season!
