Weekend Gaming Playlist

For those that partake in the festivities, Happy Halloween! If you are choosing to, please stay safe! In addition to Halloween activities, I’m certainly planning on doing some gaming, and here is what I’m planning to play:

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm

The sequel to 2013’s Oceanhorn has finally made it to the Nintendo Switch, after being exclusive to Apple Arcade for some time. I am putting the finishing touches on my review now, which will be posted on the site next week. If you are itching for a new 3D Zelda game, give Ocearnhorn 2 a look as it’s an action adventure RPG heavily inspired by the Zelda series, with its own story and twists.

Hades

I have enjoyed Supergiant Games in the past, so when Hades went on sale yesterday I had to pick it up. There’s been a lot of talk surrounding Hades on our Discord server, so please, feel free to join us! I have only done a handful of runs in this rogue-like dungeon crawler and I already see what all the hype was about. The gameplay loop is addicting, the combat is fast-paced, and the controls are great. Now that I’ve experienced firsthand why a lot of people have been praising it, I can see why it’s a contender for game of the year for many gamers.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Demo

The Hyrule Warriors games are a spin off series that has seen Nintendo partner with Koei Tecmo to make a hack-and-slash Zelda experience. The first game in the series was interesting, but wasn’t really my thing. Earlier this year, Nintendo surprised us with another entry in the series – this one being a prequel to Breath of the Wild. And earlier this week during Nintendo’s Partner Showcase Direct, they announced the game was getting a demo, which is available now! The demo is supposed to have the first chapter of the game, with the ability to carry over your save to the full version. I really like the look of this game as they are trying to keep the Breath of the Wild art style while Koei adds their unique combat system to the game.

Fire Emblem: Three Houses

With so many games released this time of year it has been difficult making progress on the back log. However, slowly but surely I am progressing through Fire Emblem: Three Houses. This is my first Fire Emblem experience and so far I am really enjoying the combat system. The school/teaching mechanic is still growing on me, though.

That’s it for me this weekend! What are you going to play? Let us know in the comments below, or over on Twitter. Enjoy your time playing, stay safe, and be well!
