Upcoming Switch RPGs – March 2023
At first glance, March may seem as though it’ll be a quiet month. But in actuality, there are quite a few big, medium, and small releases coming to the Switch that you’ll definitely want to keep your eyes peeled for. With a nice mix of tactics, narrative, and crafting RPGs, March is shaping up to be a solid month.
The Smile Alchemist
In KEMCO’s first release of 2023, you play as an apprentice alchemist looking to leave his mark on the world. In this alchemist simulator, fulfill townspeople’s requests to increase your adventurer rank and unlock new skills. And while you’re busy becoming the best alchemist in the world, get closer to the people around you and learn more about them.
The underworld is filled to the brim with dangerous monsters who love to feast on humans. All except for a monster known as Roy. One day, Roy and his friend Golan come across a human girl and find themselves swept up in an adventure to get this girl back home. Protect Meg as you come across monsters of all kinds in this narrative turn-based RPG.
Follow the story of a group of refugees trying to escape the clutches of their oppressors in this narrative tactical RPG. As you adventure through the lands of Vanaris, you’ll come across people with the same goal in mind as well as those looking to halt your progress.
The Atla Archives
The Atla Archives takes place in an open-world RPG where you are the only hope of saving everyone from a catastrophe that occurs every 29 days. Explore around, boost your skills, and survive in this world of mystery and wonder.
Little Witch Nobeta
In this 3D action shooter with RPG elements, you play as the young witch Nobeta who is trying to figure out the truth about her life. Explore a daunting castle where things may look cute, but appearances are deceiving. Little Witch Nobeta contains souls-like elements, where you’ll need to learn about your enemies in order to overcome challenges that stand in your way.
Record of Agarest War
Originally released in 2007, this tactics RPG game comes with all of the extra content packs which feature dungeons, weapons, outfits, and more. The world has been ravaged by war between the gods. It’s up to Leonhardt and his descendants to save the world and finally bring peace to the world.
Mato is a neo-futuristic version of Old Shanghai where abnormalities have started to occur. In this turn-based RPG, travel through rifts to investigate the strange happenings and battle against demonic abominations that are seeking to destroy the city. Figure out the dark secrets that hide underneath the surface.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure
Taking place after the events of Trails from Zero, new members and new duties have landed on the team’s lap. But new conflicts start cropping up, and mysteries from the first game that will send new challenges for the protagonists.
Rakuen: Deluxe Edition
Rakuen is a story about a young boy that lives in a hospital in this narrative no-combat RPG. One day, he asks his mom to escort him to a mysterious fantasy land so that he can ask the Guardian of the Forest for one wish. But in order to get his wish, he must first overcome several obstacles, from a cranky old man who’s lonely to a young woman in a coma.
Atelier Ryza 3: Alchemist of the End & the Secret Key
The final leg of the Ryza trilogy has finally come to the Switch. A group of islands has suddenly cropped up near Ryza’s hometown. Wanting to make sure that they aren’t a danger, the group go to investigate and come across ruins. Along with the strange ruins, a mysterious voice tells Ryza to find the Code to the Universe. Explore the world, craft items to help along your journey, and find out the roots to alchemy.
