What’s your all time favourite Sprite?
And should there be more toilets in RPGs? Like in FF6 where I assume everyone need to travel to the big city for a wizz

Elias at 4:55 PM
Breath of Fire 2 has many toilets.

RedGuardian at 5:01 PM
What’s your hidden underdog RPG?
And what’s a game that’s not considered a RPG but to you feels like one.

TheNerdBasement at 9:00 PM
Hello all, I want to thank @Peer-IGN for joining us today. Let’s have a good time!

Peer-IGN at 9:00 PM
What’s up, @TheNerdBasement — thanks for inviting me!
Scrolling up for some early Qs…

Elias at 9:00 PM
Welcome!

Rich at 9:01 PM
welcome!

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:01 PM
Welcome, Peer! Thanks for coming!

Peer-IGN at 9:01 PM
@parhyphendue Is Zelda an RPG? Absolutely not… in the case of MOST Zelda games. The big exception is Zelda 2. (I could talk about this for an hour.)

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:01 PM
Welcome

TheNerdBasement at 9:01 PM
There were a few sneakies

Peer-IGN at 9:01 PM
Welcoooooome!

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:01 PM
aaaaand you just made @TheNerdBasement ‘s day

TheNerdBasement at 9:01 PM
We have that discussion on the daily!!!!!!!!
Lol

Elias at 9:02 PM
we really do always find ways to bring that up lol

Peer-IGN at 9:02 PM
@Bill (RPG Golden Years Podcast) What’s your all time favourite Sprite? Kefka. C’mon. The way he laughs is just the best.

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:03 PM
Hey Peer, just wanted to let you know I love IGN and watch their videos daily! <3 Peer-IGN at 9:04 PM
@Bill (RPG Golden Years Podcast) @Bill (RPG Golden Years Podcast) Second Q from you: “And should there be more toilets in RPGs? Like in FF6 where I assume everyone need to travel to the big city for a wizz” RPGs are notorious for not having toilets. It’s honestly one of the biggest issues in game design right now. I know Zelda games are usually not RPGs, but at least they paid homage to toilets and their inhabitants.
@Dream Infinite Reality Thank you so much!

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:05 PM
@Peer-IGN I have a question for you. What are your predictions for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2?

Rich at 9:05 PM
Do you still keep in touch with Matt Casamassina?
@Dream Infinite Reality the bigger question regarding BOTW is 2020 or 2021?

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:06 PM
oooooo

Peer-IGN at 9:06 PM
@RedGuardian (Early Q): “What’s your hidden underdog RPG?” On Switch, I’d say The Worlds Ends With You — since everyone forgot it actually came out.

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:06 PM
I am thinking July, 2021

TheNerdBasement at 9:07 PM
With trials of manna being remade, is there another remake you’d like to see after that one?

Peer-IGN at 9:07 PM
@RedGuardian Also: “And what’s a game that’s not considered a RPG but to you feels like one.” Gran Turismo.
Alright, let’s catch up on the new Qs.

TheNerdBasement at 9:08 PM
??

Peer-IGN at 9:08 PM
I was working down the back catalog, sir.

TheNerdBasement at 9:08 PM
lol

Jose S. at 9:08 PM
Who would be your dream guest for NVC and why?
I know that having Jose Otero as a guest on NVC would be complicated given his current employment =(

Peer-IGN at 9:09 PM
@Dream Infinite Reality Predictions for Breath of the Wild 2: I’m predicting that they’re re-using the overworld but that an event changes it significantly. As in, we’re not on a new map, but instead it’s either pre-destruction or it’s turned into a Dark World version.

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:10 PM
oooooo good predictions!!!

Peer-IGN at 9:10 PM
And then they’ll layer actual dungeons/temples on top. That was the biggest complaint from fans about the first one: many wanted item-based puzzles and classic temples. I bet they’ll listen.

TheNerdBasement at 9:10 PM
Id agree

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:11 PM
yes, I agree too

TheNerdBasement at 9:11 PM
that was one oof my complaints as well

Peer-IGN at 9:11 PM
@Dream Infinite Reality Man, I have a hard time believing Breath of the Wild 2 will make holiday 2020. I bet it’s 2021. Sadly.

TheNerdBasement at 9:11 PM
I think making and old school dungeon in the BOTW engine would be awseom

Elias at 9:12 PM
I really hope TWEWY gets a proper sequel.

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:12 PM
Yeah, but the devs are probably working hard, like they always do for new Zelda titles. So if we give them more time that they need, they will make it better

TheNerdBasement at 9:12 PM
I still think having Zelda as the main character would be a nice change of pace

Rich at 9:12 PM
@Peer-IGN if BOTW2 is 2021, what do you think the zelda entry for 2020 will be?

Peer-IGN at 9:12 PM
@Jose S. Dream guest for NVC would be Mr. Miyamoto, of course. It’d be difficult with the language barrier, but we could edit it or subtitle it for flow. Second would be Shigesato Itoi to finally find out what the hell happened with Mother 3 and Nintendo. Third would be Reggie, now that he’s unshackled.

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:12 PM
#TingleForBOTW2
lol

TheNerdBasement at 9:12 PM
gross
lol
zelda as sheik runnin around. fantastic

Rich at 9:13 PM
Now that Reggie is unshackled he should do unfiltered with Ryan

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:13 PM
Maybe a more aged Tingle, possibly more mature

TheNerdBasement at 9:13 PM
lmao

Dream Infinite Reality at 9:13 PM
The Elder Tingle

TheNerdBasement at 9:13 PM

With the continued and growing success of the eShop, and the big focus from Microsoft on compatibility, do you think Nintendo will do a better job of bringing our current digital purchases to future consoles?

HedgeKnightMike at 9:13 PM
If you could get everyone hyped about just one AAA and one Indie game for 2020 what would you pick?

In all your experience working in and around gaming industry what moment stands out to you as the most fun you’ve had on the job?

@Jose S. Having Jose would be amazing! But yeah, he can’t do that sort of stuff since he’s not in a spokesperson role. Matt Casamassina: yes, I speak with him daily, either via text or on the phone. We chatted this morning in the car and talked about the season finale of Watchmen.

TheNerdBasement at 9:14 PM
amazing show
just finished today
id say better than The Madolorian
without a doubt

Elias at 9:15 PM
Mandalorian’s last ep was lackluster.

Rich at 9:15 PM
is it possible for Matt C to be a guest on NVC?
would like to see him make a return

TheNerdBasement at 9:16 PM
most of the mandolorian is compartmentalized. oneoffs

Peer-IGN at 9:17 PM
@Fizmort “With the continued and growing success of the eShop, and the big focus from Microsoft on compatibility, do you think Nintendo will do a better job of bringing our current digital purchases to future consoles?”

You know, part of me wants to believe that they’ve got a long-term plan to allow ownership to continue across platforms, but I actually think it’s more that their approach may have shifted from creating new devices to a growing/upgraded platform. I think Switch may have a very long life, a la GB and DS before it — primarily because of its portability. So yes, I do think they’ll allow us to keep our purchases, but I think it’ll also be a more incremental update route for this platform than, say, for Xbox 360 to Xbox Series X.

NoahIvaldi at 9:17 PM
@TheNerdBasement I’m sorry!

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:18 PM
how do you see the games industry evolving over the next console generation?

TheNerdBasement at 9:18 PM
lol

JusteJonny at 9:18 PM
@Peer-IGN Given the modular design of the switch, what is the likely-hood of a (dockless, joy-con-less, no cables) Pro/2.0 console upgrade? [I believe this type of modularity is what will make the switch semi-future proof]

NoahIvaldi at 9:19 PM
This other server that I’m in has a Kefka emote of him laughing, and another of him pouring :salt:.

Peer-IGN at 9:19 PM
@HedgeKnightMike “If you could get everyone hyped about just one AAA and one Indie game for 2020 what would you pick?”

If it was multiplatform, then the AAA would be Cyberpunk. I got to see it a few times now, and I always walk away impressed. I absolutely adore The Witcher 3, so I have great fate in CDPR. Limiting it to Nintendo, BotW2, if it came out next year. But we simply don’t know enough about Nintendo’s slate next year for Switch, sadly. Indie game… SPORTS STORY.

TheNerdBasement at 9:20 PM
Yea next year is barren

Elias at 9:20 PM
Everything keeps getting delayed, too. My Crystal Chronicles hype will not die, though.

TheNerdBasement at 9:20 PM
Yep, that just got delayed right?

Peer-IGN at 9:21 PM
@HedgeKnightMike “In all your experience working in and around gaming industry what moment stands out to you as the most fun you’ve had on the job?”

Okay, this dates me — but the day I got to play Ocarina of Time before it was out, with Mr. Miyamoto and NOA people like Perrin and Jim Merrick in the room was just so wonderful. Apart from that, it’s usually E3. I absolutely love being in the audience for major game reveals. Twilight Princess’s reveal still gives me chills.

Elias at 9:21 PM
It did recently, yeah

HedgeKnightMike at 9:21 PM
That is awesome, getting to play such a monumental game before it even released. 😥 lucky

Peer-IGN at 9:22 PM
@Rich “is it possible for Matt C to be a guest on NVC?
would like to see him make a return”

Yes. I almost had him, but the lazy bastard didn’t make it. 😉 I’ll keep at him. When’s the next big anniversary for the N64 or GameCube?

TheNerdBasement at 9:22 PM
I would love to have a moment like that with Miyamoto
n64-worst nintendo console

HedgeKnightMike at 9:23 PM
Also Miyamoto, but even the base would kill me

Rich at 9:23 PM
n64 is 25 in 2021
cube is 20 in 2021

Peer-IGN at 9:24 PM
@Jeremy (Xatres) “how do you see the games industry evolving over the next console generation?”

The most dramatic change is the move away from packaged goods to subscription services. Such as “SGODs” (subscription games on demand) and streaming services. That doesn’t mean we won’t have discs and carts (or that streaming takes over), but it’ll be a major part of these consoles’ identity and the console makers’ business plans. It won’t be next year, but I’d expect by the end of the gen we’re looking at a shift similar to the music and movie industries in that the physical media carriers will be the exception to the rule.

TheNerdBasement at 9:24 PM
That makes me so sad.

Peer-IGN at 9:25 PM
@Elias I haven’t played FFCC in aaaaages. But I have many fond memories of playing co-op with my kids. Looking forward to jumping back in as well.

Elias at 9:25 PM
I honestly love collecting physical games. I’ll be sad to see them go.

TheNerdBasement at 9:25 PM
Im always physical over digital

HedgeKnightMike at 9:25 PM
Yeah 🙁 I’m preparing to just go the MS gamepass route and whatever Nintendo’s next iteration is next gen

Peer-IGN at 9:25 PM
@TheNerdBasement “n64-worst nintendo console”

HOW DARE YOU!

TheNerdBasement at 9:25 PM
..and it doesnt mean games will be less expensive either

Penguin at 9:25 PM
Aww, yeah I’m the same way with physical over digital. It’ll suck to see them be phased out

TheNerdBasement at 9:25 PM
lol

Elias at 9:26 PM
I supposed that would give the specialty publishers like Limited Run more business though.

HedgeKnightMike at 9:26 PM
@TheNerdBasement is ignoring Virtual Boy

Peer-IGN at 9:26 PM
AND WII

Rich at 9:26 PM
@Peer-IGN @TheNerdBasement needs to play OoT and MM then he will appreciate n64.

Peer-IGN at 9:26 PM
and Wii U.

HedgeKnightMike at 9:26 PM
I’d take a wii over a 64

Elias at 9:26 PM
We…. don’t talk about Virtual Boy.

TheNerdBasement at 9:26 PM
Wii was a decent console

JusteJonny at 9:26 PM
Don’t worry about the @TheNerdBasement hate for the N64, he is wrong about many things.

Peer-IGN at 9:26 PM
N64 did so much right.

Elias at 9:27 PM
Wii was a shovelware machine >__>

TheNerdBasement at 9:27 PM
how else was gramma get her bowling game on

Elias at 9:27 PM
Wii U was underutilized from its potential.

HedgeKnightMike at 9:27 PM
Wii is the last place to find light gun shooters now ;-;

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:27 PM
yeah, but if you dig through the Wii shovelware, there are a ton of good games in there

Peer-IGN at 9:27 PM
Just booting up a game in seconds made me happy. And it had Ocarina, Majora, Blast Corps, Banjo-Kazooie, Mario 64, Mario Party, etc.

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:27 PM
Zach and Wiki!

Penguin at 9:27 PM
@Elias True about limited print companies. At least until the console manufacturers stop implementing physical ways of playing their games :sob:

HedgeKnightMike at 9:28 PM
^ there’s already like 8 or 9

TheNerdBasement at 9:28 PM
i jumped ship during the n64 era

HedgeKnightMike at 9:28 PM
More will hopefully pop up

TheNerdBasement at 9:28 PM
went to playstation
inb4 jonny mention ogre battle!!

Penguin at 9:28 PM
A lot in Europe especially, since their MOQ for Nintendo seems to be lower than NA

Elias at 9:28 PM
I followed the “ethical modding” principle with my Wii.

Peer-IGN at 9:28 PM
True story: was cleaning up my daughter’s room (she lives in Japan now, college) — and found our copy of Zack and Wiki behind her cabinet.

Rich at 9:28 PM
speaking of Banjo, do you think we see him return? switch port would be nice, but i’ll take a new Banjo game

TheNerdBasement at 9:28 PM
holy crap

Peer-IGN at 9:28 PM
OGRE BATTLE 64. God!

Elias at 9:29 PM
Ogre Battle!!! Agh.

Peer-IGN at 9:29 PM
One of the great injustices in this world… No Ogre Battle, no Advance Wars.

TheNerdBasement at 9:29 PM
@JusteJonny absolutely adores that game

Elias at 9:29 PM
If you could revive a dormant RPG franchise, which would you choose?

JusteJonny at 9:29 PM
@Peer-IGN Ogre Battle 64 is glorius. One of my fav all-time games.

TheNerdBasement at 9:29 PM
we have medival advance wars in wargroove

Peer-IGN at 9:30 PM
@Rich I can’t imagine Rare won’t try and bring back Banjo in some fashion again. We’ll see how multiplatform MS will get in the future, but re-releases of N64 games make total sense… including BK and Tooie.

Elias at 9:30 PM
WarGroove is fantastic and I cannot sing it’s praises enough.

TheNerdBasement at 9:30 PM
into the breach fills that as well

Penguin at 9:30 PM
A question everybody’s been talking about lately, favorite games of the decade? Or at least the ones that come to mind immediately if you can’t think of any

JusteJonny at 9:30 PM
Sadly, Square Enix has the license, and dismantled the team when they acquired quest. :frowning:

Elias at 9:30 PM
Sadly, those indie titles just make me want a new FF Tactics or Ogre Battle
Fellseal: Arbiter’s Mark alllllmost scratched the itch.

TheNerdBasement at 9:31 PM
yep

Peer-IGN at 9:31 PM
@Elias “If you could revive a dormant RPG franchise, which would you choose?”

I don’t know that we can call it a franchise, but one of my favorite RPGs of all time never got localized or a sequel. It’s called Live A Live, from Square. Came out on the Super Famicom (SNES) — and was basically made by all the greatest Square designers. Fantastic soundtrack and loads and loads of unique game systems. I want that back so badly.

Elias at 9:31 PM
Dannnng man! I loved that and Threads of Fate — no one freakin’ knows about em hardly.

Peer-IGN at 9:32 PM
Wargroove is excellent. I’m bummed it doesn’t get talked about more. They really nailed the feel and charm of Advance Wars.
@Penguin “A question everybody’s been talking about lately, favorite games of the decade? Or at least the ones that come to mind immediately if you can’t think of any?”

Oh, I can think of many. For me, it’d be between Breath of the Wild and Witcher 3.

Elias at 9:32 PM
I just want a new Breath of Fire that is not a mobile atrocity >__>

JusteJonny at 9:33 PM
Wargroove does suffer from overly large maps, surprise AI units, and lack of useful unit info tooltips.

Peer-IGN at 9:33 PM
I played all the Breath of Fires on SNES… but haven’t revisited the series since then. Do they hold up well?

JusteJonny at 9:33 PM
But yeah, great game paying homage to Advance Wars.

TheNerdBasement at 9:33 PM
What retro rpg would you like to see get the 3d remake, ala Trials of Mana?

Elias at 9:33 PM
IV is my absolute favorite, and III seems to have a huge cult following.
Both of those can be played on a Vita or Vita TV! ;D

TheNerdBasement at 9:34 PM
I was just playing BoF 2, it was meh

Peer-IGN at 9:34 PM
@TheNerdBasement “What retro rpg would you like to see get the 3d remake, ala Trials of Mana?”

I already said Live A Live — but the obvious answer is Chrono Trigger.

JusteJonny at 9:34 PM
BoF 1 and 2 are bad.

TheNerdBasement at 9:34 PM
beautiful

Peer-IGN at 9:34 PM
I was so surprised to see Trials of Mana not only getting localized finally, but also seeing them redo it. Would’ve/could’ve never ever predicted that.

Elias at 9:35 PM
Dragon Quarter is… an experience. It probably aged better than most PS2 RPG’s, but it’s not a good Breath of Fire game. It’s got a lot of weird systems and breaks the mold.

Peer-IGN at 9:35 PM
I played Seiken Densetsu way back when it first came out in the ’90s.
Er, Seiken 3, that is. (I played Seiken 2 as well — never played the first one.)

TheNerdBasement at 9:35 PM
Ive been playing through it with the Collection of mana. Its pretty decent

Rich at 9:35 PM
We need Chrono on switch, hopefully we get a port in 2020

Elias at 9:36 PM
I need to pick that up when I stop being a peasant lol

TheNerdBasement at 9:36 PM
I dont want no stinking port

JusteJonny at 9:36 PM
@Peer-IGN , curious, how excited is the IGN staff for the Xenoblade Chronicles remake? It felt like the game was overlooked when it first release on the Wii, and later the 3DS. Will it get some degree of attention when it releases on the switch?

Elias at 9:36 PM
A remake from the ground up would be amazing, but I just don’t see it happening :((

TheNerdBasement at 9:37 PM
People would lose their freaking minds

Peer-IGN at 9:37 PM
I mean, Capcom is showing with the RE remakes that you can make good money with going back to the old well. I’m honestly surprised Square doesn’t take Ogre, Chrono, etc. and spin out some more remakes besides FFVII

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:38 PM
I’m never really surprised when Square passes up on easy, fan-pleasing move

HedgeKnightMike at 9:38 PM
I’m like the only person who wants it, but I’d kill for a Bouncer remake

Elias at 9:39 PM
And I’m over here clamoring for Dragon Quest Monsters on Switch, haha.

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:39 PM
I’ll take HD2D remakes of classic RPGs over 3D ones any day

JusteJonny at 9:39 PM
Sadly, the original creator of the ogre battle series is a contract game design… I believe he has been on an indie game project for ~5 years now.

Peer-IGN at 9:39 PM
@JusteJonny “curious, how excited is the IGN staff for the Xenoblade Chronicles remake? It felt like the game was overlooked when it first release on the Wii, and later the 3DS. Will it get some degree of attention when it releases on the switch?”

We totally did. I know I’m looking forward to playing more than just the first few hours. I picked up XB2 way late, too — and to my shame, still haven’t finished it. I keep getting sidetracked by the many, way-too-long games coming out.
I know Zach’s excited about it as well. And it seems like a Casey game, too. Brian would hate it.

JusteJonny at 9:41 PM
Yeah, like Fire Emblem: Three Houses. I am hitting 180 hours on my first play-through (hard mode + classic). Apparently, the Golden Deer is the “True” ending.

Peer-IGN at 9:41 PM
Three Houses was my GotY this year.

Rich at 9:41 PM
and well deserved

Counter at 9:41 PM
In terms of SE ports, I’m curious to see if Chrono Cross and Xenogears are ever going to be released in Europe — still no sign of them, years later. Switch ports would be interesting.

Elias at 9:41 PM
It’s such an amazing game. I have a habit of bingeing titles like that.

Peer-IGN at 9:42 PM
2020 looks very “barren” so far for Switch. I hope more third-parties finally wake up. Ubi is smart and is making some nice $ with games like Rabbids.

TheNerdBasement at 9:42 PM
Love that title

Peer-IGN at 9:42 PM
And Square and Capcom sound pretty enthusiastic now.

Elias at 9:42 PM
I’m sure we will find out more when the Winter Direct comes to us. January is likely from their track record.

Peer-IGN at 9:43 PM
I mean, I was very surprised by the Bravely Default 2 announcement

TheNerdBasement at 9:43 PM
They were very apprehensive at first

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:43 PM
i feel like the Switch 2020 schedule will start to fill itself in over the coming months

Elias at 9:43 PM
Definitely feeling that, too, Jeremy.

Peer-IGN at 9:43 PM
Totally. But with the Switch’s success in Japan, they’ll go all in soon.

Rich at 9:43 PM
do you think we will ever see what Retro was working on (rumored starfox game) pre Prime 4?

Peer-IGN at 9:44 PM
@Rich One of life’s greatest mysteries. The whole Fox thing sounded fishy to me, but I ended up hearing it from so many different people that I started to believe it. But maybe it was just bad information spreading far… We’ll see. They definitely weren’t just sitting around, so I’m hoping we can finally see their game next year (because Metroid won’t be ready).
It’s probably just Donkey Kong Country.

TheNerdBasement at 9:45 PM
Wont see metroid for a while unfortunately

JusteJonny at 9:46 PM
Just like how this year was “meh” for non-switch consoles, next year will likely be a “meh” switch year. Seeing as how non-first party & indie switch titles always come out ~6-12 months after the other consoles. I’d expect the lulls of 2019 gaming to have an impact on switch 2020 gaming (with regards to third party).

Rich at 9:46 PM
well there is the rumored 2d Metroid games, they should bring the latest one from 3ds to switch
what do you think Nintendo’s big holiday 2020 game will be?

TheNerdBasement at 9:47 PM
BoTW2

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:47 PM
How would someone break into doing freelancing for IGN / other games journalism outlets?

TheNerdBasement at 9:48 PM
Is the an exclusive on another console youd like to see on the switch?

Elias at 9:50 PM
I gotta get back to my day job! Nice chatting with you!

Peer-IGN at 9:50 PM
@Rich “what do you think Nintendo’s big holiday 2020 game will be?”

Oh, man.
That’s a tough one. I feel like we’ll see some Mario and Pikmin ports next year, Animal Crossing, and then a bigger holiday game from our friends at Rare. But what that is, I don’t know. Timing just works.

TheNerdBasement at 9:51 PM
Pikmin ports???? Where PIkmin 4?
its supposedly been done

Jeremy (Xatres) at 9:52 PM
:fingers_crossed: Mario Sunshine HD :fingers_crossed:

Peer-IGN at 9:52 PM
@TheNerdBasement “Is the an exclusive on another console youd like to see on the switch?”

Gimme the old Uncharteds.

TheNerdBasement at 9:52 PM
Those are nice

JusteJonny at 9:53 PM
@Peer-IGN aside from mediocre sales and Mario Kart, what do you think is preventing Nintendo from developing an F-Zero sequel? Last I remembered, Miyamoto wasn’t too sure on where to take the franchise next, gameplay-wise. Is this why Amusement Vision worked on F-Zero GX?

Peer-IGN at 9:53 PM
@Jeremy (Xatres) “How would someone break into doing freelancing for IGN / other games journalism outlets?”

The path for many of our freelancers either led through contributing to wikis and getting noticed for their strategy guide content (we actually hired some people full-time that way) or by just submitting stories (history pieces, feature stories) and being persistent.
We don’t accept unpaid work (nobody should), but wikis are a place where you can make a mark by having fun and showing expertise and great writing. (We used to have blogs that were a great place to show that off, but the platform broke.)

TheNerdBasement at 9:56 PM
5 MINUTE WARNING FOLKS

Rich at 9:57 PM
what would you say is the best and worst part of your job?

Peer-IGN at 9:57 PM
@JusteJonny “aside from mediocre sales and Mario Kart, what do you think is preventing Nintendo from developing an F-Zero sequel? Last I remembered, Miyamoto wasn’t too sure on where to take the franchise next, gameplay-wise. Is this why Amusement Vision worked on F-Zero GX?”

The series just got so technical with F-Zero X — and I think it ultimately wasn’t what Nintendo wanted to create anymore. I think they were stuck between creating more “fun” family games like Mario Kart, and they knew F-Zero fans wouldn’t accept something that strayed too far from the originals’ setup. Amusement Vision was a match made in heaven: AX/GX were so darn good. But they also proved that Nintendo didn’t have that audience of players who wanted brutally hard, more technical racers.

I want to know what’s stopping them from making that ExciteBots sequel :weary:

I’m sure there are some ways to bring it back. Tadashi Sugiyama is still at Nintendo. Shin’en has the technical know-how. With a bigger budget, they could make a pretty cool F-Zero IMO.
Okay, guys — I gotta head out in a sec. Any last Qs?
