Community Member Spotlight: CRMagic

Starting this month, we will be doing a regular article where we do an interview with an active community member. Our first Community Member Spotlight is of CRMagic!

Tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a programmer for an insurance company with two boys and a non-gamer wife. The kids make it hard to find time to game, but I make do.

When did you become a part of the Switch RPG community?

I joined this community back in early April 2018.

How did you find SwitchRPG.com?

I saw a giveaway Tweet from one of my friends. I was intrigued by a Switch group dedicated to RPGs and went to check out the site link in the tweet.

How old were you when you first got into gaming and what got you into it?

I got into gaming when I was 3 or 4, believe it or not. I was always fascinated with board games and the NES that two of my friends had. When I was in 1st grade, I saved up money ($105!) to buy my own NES, and it went from there.

What is your favorite RPG subgenre?

Open World. The Elder Scrolls and BotW are about as close to perfect games for me as it gets.

What are your favorite RPGs?

Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy-esque games (pre-11 FFs, Bravely Default, etc).

What RPG’s on the Switch are you actively playing?

I am Setsuna and, I guess, World Neverland, although I barely consider that an RPG. I’ll get Xenoblade one of these days…

What is your favorite thing about the Switch RPG community?

I like the age diversity of the group. We’ve got people here who consider PS2 old school, and people who grew up with Ataris. It’s nice to see we all can discuss what is finally becoming an all-age hobby.

What game or series would you love to see come to the Switch?

All of them. Seriously, I’d love to see the Seiken Densetsu games (that’s the _ of Mana series to you non-Japanese followers!) return. Or at least the collection gets an English release.

What Switch titles are you currently anticipating the most?

Octopath Traveller and Mega Man 11.

What is your favorite thing about the Nintendo Switch?

Portability. I’m in portable mode easily 90% of the time, but now I get to play high powered modern titles instead of underpowered portable games. I love my 3DS but sometimes you just need to play Breath of the Wild.

What is your fondest Nintendo memory?

I’ve been a Nintendo gamer since day one, so most of my best memories are related. I think the pride in buying my first NES is probably the top one, followed by the first time I accidentally pulled an all nighter playing a game (hello, Mario RPG!)

Thanks for taking the time to get to know CRMagic! If you are interested in doing a Community Member Spotlight, just be an active member of our community at discord.switchrpg.com and you have a chance of being selected.
