10 Upcoming Switch RPGs – May 2021
At the moment, May appears to be another solid month for RPGs on the Nintendo Switch. While there are a few heavy hitters arriving towards the end of the month, the beginning will be filled primarily will smaller indie titles:
Save Me Mr. Tako: Definitive Edition
Releasing May 5th
After saving a woman from drowning, a little octopus known as Tako is given the ability to survive on land. And with this newfound ability, Tako takes it upon himself to fix the conflicts between humans and octopi. Taking inspiration from games back in the Gameboy era, Save Me Mr. Tako gives off a charming appearance. With 50 different hats that give unique abilities, side quests, puzzles, and more than 50 levels to explore, players will have much to chew on with this game.
Releasing May 6th
Have you ever wanted to maintain a hive of anthropomorphic bees? Well then, CyberHive is for you! As the commander of the Melistar, you must make sure that your ship is in top form, that you stay on course, and that both the Queen and the soldier bees have enough food. And as you travel through space, you will meet other insect races, as well. Choose who you ally with, and who will be your enemy.
Releasing May 7th
Playing as anthropology student Melissa Flores, you find yourself nearly 5,000 miles away from your home in California at a school in Belgium, taking up a summer internship. But rest assured that digging up bones won’t be the only excitement you’ll be getting up to. Make friends and perhaps find some romance that will make your stay in Belgium all the more exciting.
Releasing May 12th
In this turn-based game where you’re not sure who is a friend and who isn’t, you must figure out the truth before it threatens to destroy you. With eight playable characters and multiple endings, there will be plenty of replayability with this title.
Releasing May 13th
For fellow tactics fans out there, Rise Eterna joins in to make its mark on the Switch. Play as Lua as you search to discover her origins in this tactics game, reminiscent of 16-bit Japanese strategy games. Recruit up to 14 different characters, each with their own abilities that let them stand out from the rest.
Space Commander: War and Trade
Releasing May 13th
In this open sandbox RPG, you have the choice of how you want to shape your space adventure. Do you want to build a safe life as a trader? Live the dangerous life of a mobster? Or how about the action-packed life of a space ranger? Do all of that and more playing Space Commander: War and Trade. Explore space and build the best space fleet that money can buy.
Releasing May 21st
If the zombie apocalypse were to happen, would you survive? In this turn-based tactics game, you can see for yourself. Playing as a survivor of a zombie apocalypse, you will come across other people who want to survive just like you. Band together, figure out the best course of action during battle, and survive as you all try to reach your destination of Borealis.
Releasing May 21st
For those unfamiliar with this 3DS title, Miitopia is one of the couple of games from Nintendo that features the Mii characters front and center. Giving the player the power to make whatever Mii they want, you can choose what characters appear in this wacky story. Watch as your Miis band together to fight the face-stealing Dark Lord. Relationships will grow (or be destroyed) in this cute turn-based RPG.
Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne
Releasing May 24th
Originally on the Playstation 2, Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne makes its appearance as the Switch’s first SMT title. The end of the world has been kick started and you are stuck in the middle, with the choice of who will triumph, and who will face death head on. Fight against Gods and demons, and much more in this classic title.
Releasing May 25th
Have you ever wanted to be a shark? Marketing itself as a ShaRkPG, play as the apex predator as you swim through the open waters of Port Clovis. Fight, survive, and evolve as you eat your way through the waters and cause chaos with every bite.
