The month of March is upon us and with it, the next wave of big releases! With just RPGs alone, there’s a lot that could be added to your backlog:
The counts who serve under the king are meant to pledge their loyalty. And yet, when one of them decides to use forbidden arts, the flags of rebellion rise. You play as Raphael, a young man who takes up his sword for the sake of his king. Is your ambition strong enough to face those who wish to overtake the kingdom?
As one of the most anticipated tactics games in some time, Triangle Strategy promises to be a fulfilling addition to Square’s tactics games. With over 20 characters to recruit and the ability to bolster one of three convictions (liberty, morality, or utility), there’s going to be much to digest. Play as Serenoa Wolffort as he is faced with momentous decisions that will affect how the story plays out.
Quest for Infamy
Drawing inspiration from classic RPGs comes Quest to Infamy. However, instead of playing the bright-eyed hero going on their first adventure, you play as the charming and wily villain. With three character classes to choose from (brigand, rogue, or sorcerer), steal your way through villages and dungeons alike.
Jenn and Tristan are two orphans who were taken under the wing of a mysterious scientist. One day, however, this scientist disappears without a trace. Stumbling upon a cellar that hides a strange portal, the twins are transported to a world beyond their imagination. Customize your gear and unlock unexpected story paths in this side-scrolling RPG beat ’em up.
.hack//G.U. Last Recode
All four .hack//G.U. titles finally make their way onto the Nintendo Switch. Follow the tales of Haseo as he hunts down a legendary Player Killer called “Tri-edge” in a popular VRMMORPG. Due to them, his friend Shino was PKed and sent into a coma in the real world. There are many mysteries to unfold in this RPG.
The Cruel King and the Great Hero
In this heartwarming tale of compassion, friendship, and family, The Cruel King and the Great Hero goes through the story beats of a young girl who wishes to be a hero. As a spiritual successor to The Liar Princess and the Blind Prince, fans of the first game will find themselves right at home. But worry not! You don’t need to play the first game to enjoy this title.
For fans of Fire Emblem or Langrisser comes Dark Deity, a new tactics game with classic roots. With 30 playable characters, 54 classes, varied and challenging maps, and over 450 bond conversations, there is much for tactics fans and completionists alike.
Rune Factory 5
The next title of the Rune Factory series is finally here with Rune Factory 5. You play as the newest ranger under the peacekeeping organization known as SEED and travel to the quiet town of Rigbarth. However, there’s more than meets the eye in this town. But if you wish to take a break from your main missions, work alongside the townsfolk of Rigbarth. Battle, farm, and romance your way to a happy life.
In Crystar, an action RPG, a young girl is battling against her demons due to killing her own sister. However, if she wishes to atone for her mistake and bring her sister back, she must battle through Purgatory. Only by atoning for her sins and allowing herself to grieve can she hope to move forward. Battle enemies, release your tears to gain strength, and go to the depths of Purgatory to rescue your sister.
Monster catcher fans have another title to look forward to with Coromon. Using a stamina-based system, you must choose your skills carefully, apply status conditions, and damage enemies with a range of attacks.
